This is such a terrible shame, I hope some action is taken to preserve this unique environment before it's completely ruined!
I can understand why the Ecuadorian govt are keen to exploit the islands' potential to bringing tourism cash into the economy, but their attitude seems to be somewhat shortsighted in the sense that they don't appear to be investing in infrastructure which will help to protect the environment (e.g. the lack of sewers on the islands).
I very much hope that they see the sense in putting in some investment to sustain this environment and take steps to limit the impact of tourism! Cynic that I am I worry that they'll focus on short term profit though! *sigh*.
